Chelsea have confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign Willian from Anzhi, subject to the player being given a work permit.
The Blues have beaten Spurs to the £30m signing of the Brazilian star after he agreed personal terms with them and a deal was struck with the Russian side.
A statement on the club’s website reads: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm an agreement has been reached with both Willian and his club Anzhi Makhachkala for the transfer of the Brazilian player.
“The transfer is subject to a work permit hearing on Wednesday.”
Sources close to the deal had claimed that a work permit was now the only sticking point yesterday, and that has now been confirmed by Chelsea.
The 25-year-old had previously passed a medical at Spurs last Wednesday before Chelsea launched their bid at 6pm on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Spurs are said to be lining up Hulk as an alternative option.
