Stoke target Manchester City striker John Guidetti
Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is planning to raid former club Manchester City to sign striker John Guidetti.
The Potters are being linked with a £5.5m bid for the Swedish youngster.
The 21-year-old was, and perhaps still is, considered one of City’s brightest talents. But now into his early twenties and yet to play for the first-team, it might now be time for him to move on.
He bagged 20 goals in 23 league games during a loan spell at Feyenoord in the 2011/12 season. That led to him being handed a new three-year contract at the Etihad.
But the new deal hasn’t translated into playing time for City. With a fresh batch of strikers now imported by new manager Manuel Pellegrini, Guidetti is said to be disillusioned about his prospects at the club.
That’s persuaded Hughes that it’s worth trying to bring Guidetti to the Britannia Stadium.
