Spurs boss Andre Villas Boas backs Juan Mata to re-establish himself in the Chelsea team
Tottenham manager Andre Villas Boas has backed Juan Mata to reassert himself as a regular Chelsea starter – just as he was during Villas Boas’ time in charge.
The Spurs boss said the Spain international has the talent to overcome being sidelined by Jose Mourinho and thinks he will soon be a key part of the Blues’ set-up once again.
He said: “It was not my decision to pick or not pick Mata. He was always involved in my starting XI.
“I enjoyed a great personal and professional relationship with Juan Mata.
“But it is not my decision any more so I suppose that the time that he is not being given now with the talent that he has, he will probably overcome it and will jump back into the team because he is that special.”
