Mamadou Sakho and Divock Origi set to start for Liverpool against Bordeaux
Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho is set to be handed his first start of the season in Thursday’s Europa League clash with French side Bordeaux, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Striker Divock Origi is also set to be given his chance to lead the line in his first start since arriving from Lille, the report claims.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has favoured a settled back-four of Nathaniel Clyne, Martin Skrtel, Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez so far this season. But after back-to-back defeats to West Ham and Manchester United, the Reds boss looks set to rotate his squad for their European fixture.
France international Sakho is among those likely to be given the chance to stake their claim as Rodgers’ rests regulars ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Norwich City.
Origi was signed by the Reds in the summer 2014 transfer window. The Belgium international arrived at Anfield this summer after a season-long loan at his former club, but is yet to start a game.
Alberto Moreno, Jordon Ibe, Kolo Toure and Jordan Rossiter are also in contention for the Bordeaux game.
