Video: Man Utd and Sunderland present the worst penalty shootout ever
People sometimes attack the quality of the Capital One Cup. Those people were given some pretty solid evidence to back their argument during last night’s semi-final second leg between Manchester United and Sunderland.
After a clanger from United keeper David De Gea – partially redeemed by a mishit response from Javier Hernandez – took the tie to spot-kicks, the two teams took part in the penalty shootout that nobody wanted to win.
The Black Cats eventually triumphed 1-2 on penalties.
