Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho blamed Newcastle’s ball boys for contributing to his side’s first Premier League defeat of the season today.

The Special One accused the Toon’s pitchside helpers of hiding the ball – an assertion that no doubt had fans of Swansea and Liverpool spitting out their drinks.

Mourinho said: “We wanted to play more football, but it was not possible because of a few things I thought didn’t belong any more to top-level football, but still belong here.

“The ball disappeared, the ball doesn’t come, another ball comes, the ball boys run away. These kinds of situations that are, unfortunately, still part of the game. But no complaints.”

You can see Mourinho doing something that looks very similar to hiding the ball against the Swans earlier this season in the video above.

And he displayed similar tactics at Anfield at the end of the last campaign.
