Chelsea have struck a deal to sign Chile international Charles Aranguiz, according to Marseille fan website Football Club De Marseille.

The French club have been linked with an attempt to sign the Copa America winner in recent days but today’s report suggests that the chance to snap him up has already passed.

That is because the 26-year-old will reportedly move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to the article, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Aranguiz’s current club – Brazilian side Internacional – to buy him.

The Premier League champions have not yet actioned that agreement, and may yet decline to do so, but the option is there. The Marseille fan site claims that they are out of the running despite their coach Marcelo Bielsa having worked with Aranguiz with Chile.

If Chelsea back out, Manchester City are said to be ready to move for the midfielder.

We took a look at what Aranguiz might bring to Chelsea’s squad during the recent Copa America. Click here to read our verdict.
