Pre-match campaign lands Liverpool in trouble

Liverpool seem to have landed themselves in hot water with the FA after a pre-match t-shirt campaign by its players. The authorities are apparently not very happy that the Reds, spurred on by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher according to the local press, used their Monday night TV slot with West Ham to promote a campaign. A disciplinary charge for the club could follow.

As far as we are aware, the ‘Free Michael Now’ t-shirts were part of an ongoing protest to get a Liverpool fan jailed for attempted murder released from a Bulgarian prison, and absolutely nothing to do with an unrelated protest to let Little Mickey Owen leave Newcastle on a Bosman.
