A WAG who has earned her man’s money instead of spending it!

An English footballer stuck in America without a club earned a move to Scottish outfit Queen of the South after his wife posted a 10-minute highlights package of his career on YouTube (that’s the video that did the trick above). Former Chester City defender Martyn Lancaster had been playing for Atlanta Silverbacks when the club went bust and he was left without a contract.

The 28-year-old’s wife, Mysti, took matters into her own hands and uploaded the video to the internet. It was spotted by Scottish agent Jake Duncan who began showing the video evidence to a number of clubs. Queen of the South decided to take Lancaster on trial and he has now been handed a six-month contract.

He said: “It’s been a strange series of events, an incredible week or so and I still can’t quite believe what’s happened.

“I was without a team and had acouple of offers in the States but I missed British football. I missed the passion and wanted to get back to that. The problem was I had been forgotten about by anyone who had known me.

“So that’s when the YouTube thing came about. I couldn’t even log on to a computer or do anything else but my wife put the package of me together and then posted it. So it’s all her fault. The reaction was immediate and incredible. I didn’t think much would come from it but within a week I was in Scotland.

“I got a phone call late on Thursday, flew out on Friday, trained with the lads on Monday and had a trial against St Mirren. I did well so the manager offered me a deal until the end of the season. Next thing I know I’m playing in the Cup in conditions that were unfamiliar to me.”
