Arsene Wenger defends his star flasher
bendtner

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has defended trouser-less striker Nicklas Bendtner, claiming the Dane was not drunk as he left a nightclub at 4am and was set up by a mystery prankster. That was the story offered up by Bendtner and Wenger seems to have bought it.

He said: “I was angry when I saw the pictures but he has been set up. He was not drunk but somebody was waiting for him to leave the club and pulled his pants down from behind. Then they took a picture and posted it around the world. That’s what he told me.”

A perfectly rational explanation after all then. The only thing is… and I don’t want to rock the boat here, but if I am soberly walking down the street and someone pulls my trousers down (you know, my trousers that had a belt round them that the prankster has had the time to unfasten) I reckon I would pull them up rather than continue walking and getting into a car with my trousers hanging down. Just a thought.

And for the record, we still prefer The Inbetweeners theory!
