Dentistry behind Frenchman’s turn around in form

If you thought Florent Malouda was having some teething problems at Chelsea following his big money move from Lyon in 2007 then you were closer to the truth than you might have expected.

It seems the Frenchman’s disappointing first season-and-a-half in English football were cured by some time in the dentist’s chair rather than extra hours at the training ground.

Malouda’s transformation from transfer flop to unplayable winger has been so noticeable that he featured in our Top 10 surprisingly good Premier League players list.

And Malouda attributes that turnaround to an operation to remove his wisdom teeth on 2 January, which helped to cure some recurring niggles.

Since the successful operation, Malouda has been in devestating form for the Blues. Perhaps Alan Shearer would like to pull a few of Michael Owen’s teeth out and see if that has any impact!
