Greek economy fires into life for stadium seat fitters
Greece’s Euro 2012 qualifier victory over Croatia was disrupted by crowd trouble last night… except in the parallel universere where Uefa match reports are written.
English referee Howard Webb suspended the match for six minutes as Greek hooligans lobbed flares, petrol bombs and seats at their Croatian counterparts. As several Twitter wags noted, not too many coins were thrown though!
Riot police had to storm the stadium and use pepper spray to get the situation under control.
Greece still won the match 2-0 with late goals from Theofanis Gekas and Celtic’s Giorgio Samaras.
