Hearts match-winner Craig Beattie went for a topless jog after his injury-time penalty gave his side victory over Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final yesterday.

A deranged Beattie gladly accepted a booking after tucking away the spot-kick, ditching his Hearts shirt and performing a bizarre ‘dad run’ half-lap of celebration.

Explaining his celebration, Beattie said: “I scored a great goal at Ipswich and celebrated like that last season and I thought I’d add to it this time by taking my top off and make a fool of myself. I knew I hadn’t been booked before or I wouldn’t have done it. The ref didn’t say anything when he booked me but I knew it was coming. It was worth it.

“Andy Webster had my shirt. He’s quite sensible, like the granddad of the squad.

“I’m celebrating, the boys are chasing me, and Andrew was off looking for the shirt. It’s boys like him who get you to cup finals and win you silverware. The experience guys like him and Marius Zaliukas have is invaluable.”
