Ability to swear on FIFA 13 does little for Respect campaign

With players using Xbox Kinect able to interact with characters within their device, creators of FIFA 13 have decided to add a feature within the game whereby you can call the referee a w****r.

That all seems wuite funny and twee until you remember that we have had a fairly high-profile court case recently in which players were freely admitting to using the sort of language that would make your grandmother blush.

So with kids undoubtedly going to swear consistently and continuously until it gets boring, presumably then doing the same in their school matches, where does that leave the FA’s Respect campaign?

The only benefit is that at least on the game any foul language to an official is given the same red card punishment as on the normal field.

So, clever gimmick, or damaging childishness?
