West Brom boss Steve Clarke doesn't sound like a broken record, but a broken gramophone

The Premier League is now into its third decade, but this might just be the first time that a gramophone has been mentioned in a post-match interview.

West Brom boss Steve Clarke is the man who needs to upgrade his audio system.

Traditionally, people who repeat themselves sound like a broken record… but the Baggies’ new gaffer isn’t going to apportion blame to a humble piece of vinyl he believes to be innocent. No, he reckons the hardware could be blame for saying the same thing in all his post-match TV appearances.

He said: “I begin to sound like a broken gramophone but the players have been fantastic.”

Perhaps it’s an proverb or something. After all, does a broken gramophone make any noise at all?
