Forgive us for glossing over the Welsh winger’s assist for Aaron Lennon’s opener or even his free kick that completely fooled Pepe Reina despite not even taking a deflection. We will even leave his dive that earned him a late yellow card (although replays showed that there was a degree of contact).
No, this one is all about his own goal, a superb effort that we can refer to as the ‘half Chris Brass’. Quite why Lennon decided to return the favour for the first goal by smashing the ball into Bale’s face from a corner is unclear, but it sure looked beautiful.
