Tottenham's Sandro tweets a gruesome picture of his season-ending injury

Not for the faint-hearted this one. Following in the limping footsteps of many a footballer giving us an intimate look at their injuries, Tottenham Hotspur’s Sandro posted this picture on Twitter.

The rather gruesome shot – harbouring more staples than a stationery hoarder – shows the midfielder’s knee following his operation to reattach torn knee ligaments, an injury suffered in the recent 0-0 draw with QPR and one which will keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.

Along with the picture ‘The Beast’, as he’s affectionately known as at White Hart Lane, attached a defiant message: “I’ve already overcome many obstacles… This is just one more.”

Here’s Doctor Villas-Boas with the full diagnosis: “We were positive regarding his cruciate ligament, even during the initial assessment, because we felt there wasn’t a complete tear, but the ACL ligament and has torn completely; his lateral meniscus, too.”

Ouch. Luckily for Spurs, Scott Lionheart Parker has just comeback from a long-term achilles injury and, if last night’s typically tenacious performance against Manchester United was anything to go by, it looks like the England international is well on his way back to full fitness.

Spurs fans, touch wood… and lots of it.
