1. No prizes for guessing who was the star of the weekend. Adnan Januzaj’s brace certainly announced his arrival as a Premier League player.

2. Perhaps Ravel Morrison’s wonder goal for West Ham will focus United’s minds on ensuring they don’t let another young talent slip through the net.

3. It was a bad weekend to be a Tottenham fan: thrashed by West Ham, Arsenal top of the table and Willian scoring wonder goals for Chelsea.

4. Chelsea’s decision to let Romelu Lukaku go out on loan gets more curious by the week.

5. Luis Suarez’s faith in the Liverpool youth set-up is commendable, but the chances of Brendan Rodgers giving his 10-day old son a game were always going to be slim.

6. A deflected, long-range shot to grab a point for Arsenal: trust it to be Jack Wilshere who chips in with a lucky strike.

7. There is no European hangover quite like a Russian European hangover. Right, Andre?

8. Then again, Swansea were at home in the Europa League last week, and that didn’t seem to do them any favours against Southampton yesterday.

9. Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard secured the most eagerly anticipated 99 since Manchester United midfielder Anderson was in the ice cream van queue. Stevie G is now just one away from 100 Premier League goals.

10. Even if Joe Hart is dropped by Head and Shoulders for his poor form, these constant displays of soft hands are sure to win him the Fairy Liquid contract.
