Southampton are considering a deal to double their Wanyamas by making a move for Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga.

The Kenya international, currently on loan at Parma, is the older brother of Saints star Victor Wanyama.

Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to strengthen in January to push towards a surprise Champions League qualification. That could mean a move for the 26-year-old Mariga.

He came close to joining Manchester City in January 2010 but was not granted a work permit.

Instead he joined Inter, where he enjoyed a promising start to his career but was subsequently loaned Real Sociedad and Roma. Indeed, he has not been involved at Inter for the last three seasons.

His younger brother, aged 22, has been a key part of Saints’ excellent start to the season since his £12.5m arrival from Celtic in the summer.
