1. It wasn’t a great weekend to be a north Londoner. Eleven goals shipped across the board by Arsenal and Tottenham.

2. Manuel Pellegrini is a 6-3 thing.

3. It turns out Manchester United just needed to get that useless Robin Van Persie out of the way and let Danny ‘Fox In The Box’ Welbeck get to work.

4. That said, David Moyes is still pushing for January signings. He strengthened his case by proving that after a 40-year-old winger and a young centre-back, his midfield options also extend to Darren Fletcher, whose inflammatory bowel condition has barely allowed him to play over the last two years. While that says a lot about United’s strength in depth at the moment, it was great to see Fletcher back from his illness and putting in a good substitute performance.

5. Fernandinho, aged 28, is a lot older than many pundits seem to think. A few, including Michael Owen, decided he ‘came of age’ against Arsenal. That’s one late Bar Mitzvah.

6. Jon Flanagan has ruined any hopes he might have had of becoming a Tony Hibbert-style non-goalscoring club legend. We thought he was nailed-on for that role.

7. Sam Allardyce must think it’s just his luck that Sunderland decide to cut out the own goals just as they go up against his goal-shy West Ham side.

8. Marouane Chamakh is three-in-three. Who would have thought it? It can’t be long before he’s linked with a move to Arsenal.

9. Tottenham’s new selection of chants sounded really good. We’re just not quite sure what the Fields of Anfield Road has to do with White Hart Lane…

10. It looks like Liverpool don’t need Steven Gerrard or Daniel Sturridge, just as long as they’ve got Luis Suarez. And Jon Flanagan, of course.
