1. It was a day for great Danes in the Premier League. Spurs’ Christian Eriksen and Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner both weighed in with vital goals for their teams.

2. When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions, Manchester City appear to have resolved to be better on the road. Manchester United have made no such resolutions about their home form.

3. Emmanuel Adebayor is a new man under Tim Sherwood. His work rate, goalscoring and ability to run backwards are all vastly improved.

4. Fernando Torres scored the first away goal of the season for a Chelsea striker. It must be transfer window time.

5. Adnan Januzaj might have been planted at Manchester United by a PR agency acting on behalf of Luis Suarez.

6. Talking of Suarez, he seems to have started 2014 as he finished 2013. He was on target again as Liverpool secured a straightforward win over Hull.

7. Another violent conduct red card for Kevin Nolan. There must be a public holiday coming up that we’ve forgotten about.

8. Fulham recorded a vital win against West Ham. The pressure is heaping on Hammers boss Sam Allardyce – they’re just a point off the bottom of the table.

9. Sunderland’s Lee Cattermole is finding inventive new ways to gift goals to the opposition after Gus Poyet’s clampdown on own goals.

10. Jermaine Pennant cannot tackle.
