Liverpool are in the hunt for Benfica forward Rodrigo, Benfica boss Jorge Jesus has confirmed.

The Reds have been linked with the 23-year-old in recent days, and Jesus says that Brendan Rodgers’ side are indeed trying to sign the former Real Madrid youngster.

Asked about Liverpool’s supposed interest in Rodrigo, he said: “It’s normal. Every Benfica player is in a big window.

“The league is full of high quality players so it’s normal for other clubs to be interested.

“Rodrigo is going through a good moment.”

The former Bolton loan signing, who scored one goal in 17 games in the 2010/11 season, is expected to hold talks with the Portuguese giants over his future in the summer.

His agent Adalberto Machado told TMW: “I expect to meet the club at the end of the season.

“We want the best for the player and for the club, but at the moment Rodrigo is only concentrating on Benfica and winning titles at the end of the season.”

Liverpool have been linked with a £25m bid for Rodrigo.
