Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul is on the verge of performing a Sol Campbell and joining rivals Arsenal on a free transfer, according to reports.

The French centre-back is out of contract this summer and is thinking about signing for the Gunners, claims the Daily Star.

Kaboul, aged 28, has reportedly told friends he is open to the idea of moving between the north London sides.

England international Campbell has still not being forgiven for making a similar switch in 2001.

But Kaboul, who is best friends with injury-prone Gunners midfielder Abou Diaby, is said to be ready to become Thomas Vermaelen’s replacement if the Arsenal captain leaves the Emirates at the end of the season.

The former Portsmouth defender’s own injury record might persuade Arsene Wenger to pursue alternative options.
