Cassius Cisse, son of France international Djibril, has signed for Crewe.

The eight-year-old turned down offers from Premier League sides including Manchester United, Everton and his dad’s former club Liverpool.

The League One side were apparently the youngster’s first-choice, despite having spent time at Premier League academies.

His mum Jude Cisse wrote: “It was a tough decision as a parent but Cassius has very much enjoyed his time and is so honoured to have been given the opportunity to work with such elite academies.”

She added: “It’s sad at times his dad hasn’t been able to be here and help support him but I’m sure he is proud of him & his achievements.

“It was an extremely tough decision to help him make with him being so young and the most important factor is that he enjoys it and as a result Cassius made HIS choice to sign with Crewe Alex.

“My family and I are very much looking forward to being by his side on his new little journey. This is where the hard work and a long staircase to fulfil his dreams begins! We are extremely grateful to LFC, MUFC & EFC for all the time they have invested in Cassius which has all helped him progress to this day and hope their support will continue.

“LFC is our family club and Cassius’ little brothers are currently there so we will always work closely with the academy and we are sure that he will be back there again in the future.”
