Scottish outfit East Stirling are demanding Chelsea play a friendly against them, claiming the Blues have reneged on a deal struck in 1962.

Shire chairman Tony Ford claims to have uncovered paperwork relating to the transfer of Eddie McCreadie, a left-back who moved from East Stirling to Chelsea in 1962.

The documents reportedly state that home and away friendlies will be played between the clubs.

The Blues visited Scotland the following year, but Ford believes they are still owed a trip to Stamford Bridge.

He said: “As far as we can tell, it is still a legally binding agreement that sets out the terms of the transfer.

“Chelsea came to our old home of Firs Park. However we are certain that the second game never took place.

“If you do not ask you do not get, so I sent Chelsea a letter pointing out that we are due a game at Stamford Bridge.

“They have got back in touch and said that they will look into it”
