3. Chile look irresistible going forward and unbelievably lightweight at the back. How far they go in this World Cup might depend on how obliging the opposition fancy being.

4. Pitbull put his disastrous opening ceremony performance behind him to put on a decent show in the Chile technical area.

5. Australia winger Tommy Oar will find out the hard way that people are not afraid to stick his namesakes in if he checks Twitter when he gets back to the hotel. He was trending on the social networking site and roundly dismissed as the worst player ever to grace a World Cup.
