Fraser Forster is edging closer to joining Southampton after Celtic accepted a £10m bid for the highly rated goalkeeper, according to reports.

The 26-year-old is holding talks with the Saints with the deal expected to be completed imminently as the player fulfills his desire to play in the Premier League.

Forster – set to be offered a four year contract – has been a key transfer target this summer for new boss Ronald Koeman as he attempts to rebuild his squad after a raft of departures from the south coast club.

Forster earned a place in England’s World Cup squad after impressing Roy Hodgson with a string of superb performances in the Champions League for Celtic.

Forster has two England caps but did not feature at this summer’s World Cup.

Celtic signed the stopper from Newcastle for £2m in 2012, following two seasons on loan in Glasgow, with his former club due a percentage of any sell-on fee.
