Former West Brom manager Steve Clarke says he would be open to managing Fulham.

The Championship side are without a boss after sacking Felix Magath, and former Chelsea defender Clarke is interested in becoming the German’s successor.

Asked about the Fulham job, he told talkSPORT: “You have to sit down with people, you have to discuss what their plans for the club are. You have to tell them what your plans are, and from there you have to make a decision.

“I like to sit down with people face to face. First of all they have to want me. They have to come to me.

“Everybody knows I’m available. I don’t think there is a club in the country I would say no to. I would speak to them all and find out whether we are right for each other.”

Clarke has been out of work since leaving the Baggies in December 2013, but says he was a contender for the Crystal Palace job.

He said: “Over the summer, I think I was quite close to getting the Crystal Palace job.

“That was one that appealed to me because it was the chance to work in the Premier League again, which is a great league to work in. It is the highest level and it was a job I was really interested in.

“It’s a club I think you can build. It’s a London-based club, it has got a great fan base, the crowd there are fantastic, and there is a decent squad of players which can survive and maybe do a bit better than that in the Premier League.”
