Former Chelsea and Wigan Athletic striker Franco Di Santo is a transfer target for Borussia Dortmund, according to German newspaper Bild.

Di Santo, aged 26, has been playing in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen since leaving the Latics on a free transfer following their relegation in 2013.

His efforts, including 12 goals so far this season, have reportedly caught the eye of Dortmund, though their sporting director Michael Zorc refused to comment on his reported interest in Di Santo when quizzed by Bild.

Di Santo is under contract until 2016 with Bremen, who are reportedly keen to tie their Argentine forward down to a longer contract. Today’s report suggest he will be offered a one-year extension with the promise of being sold before that if a suitable opportunity arises.

If no agreement is reached, the player will be sold this summer for between £7m and £10.5m, the article claims.

In addition to Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach are also said to be keen to land Di Santo.
