And midfielder Aaron Ramsey is a doubt for the clash with the Swans at the Emirates Stadium on Monday evening.
England international Welbeck, aged 24, is struggling with a knee injury at the moment. Wenger predicted that he would feature again before the end of the season – with Arsenal having league fixtures against Manchester United, Sunderland and West Brom, plus the FA Cup final against Aston Villa, to follow – but that his minor injury would keep him out this weekend.
He told his pre-match press conference this morning: “He will play again this season. It’s nothing major but he will be short for the weekend.”
Meanhwhile, Ramsey is said to have a 50 per cent chance of being fit to face Garry Monk’s side.
The Welshman, aged 24, will need to have his fitness reassessed closer to the game.
Wenger revealed: “He is 50/50 to play against Swansea City.”
