Manchester United are close to sealing a £12m deal for exciting Torino right-back Matteo Darmian, the Mirror reports.
The flying full-back – tipped to be one of the hottest defensive prospects in Europe – is set to agree a £90,000 a week package that will tie him to Old Trafford for the long term.
The Red Devils agreed personal terms with the Italy international following talks yesterday evening despite him still being on holiday after discussions with his representatives.
Darmian’s capture would mean Louis van Gaal would finally have a recognised right-back with Antonio Valencia asked to fill in for much of last season.
Darmian came through the ranks at AC Milan. He spent a season at Palermo before really making his breakthrough at Torino in the 2011/12 season.
The player burst on the scene for Italy at the World Cup in Brazil last summer where his impressive displays caught the eye despite the Azzurri crashing out in the group stages.
