Liverpool will pay special attention to injury prone striker Daniel Sturridge after his latest comeback following injury.

The England man started his first game since April in the 1-1 draw with Norwich after a nightmare spell of injuries that dates back virtually a year.

The former Chelsea man had been in the USA for a second stint of rehab during the summer before returning to the UK. He had been in the States after surgery on a hip problem.

Having suffered a range of muscle problems including thigh and calf injuries Liverpool will pay close attention to Sturridge, with them hoping that he has now finally broken his curse of set-backs.

Assistant manager Gary McAllister says it has come as a major boost that Sturridge is back in their ranks but that everything needs to be done to keep him fit.

“(Sturridge) was another positive from the weekend,” said McAllister according to the Express. “He’s a quality player and brings something a little bit different.

“The medical guys are aware of Daniel’s situation and over the season, he’s a player they’ve got to really look after. But it’s just a plus to have him back in and around the first team.”

Sturridge scored 22 league goals during the 2013/14 season when Liverpool finished runners-up.
