Jack Wilshere has given an update over his possible return from injury – with the player being cautious about meeting his predicted comeback date.
The midfielder has admitted this is his biggest blow of his career so far after he suffered a hairline fracture on his leg the day before the start of the season.
Initially boss Arsene Wenger thought he would only be out for a matter of days but scans showed the damage was worse than expected with him suffering a fracture.
The 23-year-old has now undergone seven different operations and has played in only 65 of Arsenal’s 157 league games since the start of the 2011-12 season.
Wilshere will have missed over a thousand days by the time he returns to action with Wenger admitting it is a blow for Arsenal.
Wilshere, himself, admits this injury has been the toughest to take, with him saying he is not sure if he will be back around Christmas – the date he was expected to return.
“I’ve been in this position before, where I’m back on the pitch, doing a bit of running and all of a sudden something goes wrong so I don’t want to say I’ll be in a month or at Christmas,” Wilshere told Fox Soccer.
“I’ll be back when I feel ready but at the minute it’s going well. You’re working longer days [in the gym],” he added.
