Chelsea’s interim manager in waiting, Guus Hiddink, has urged the club to sign him an English striker in the January transfer window, according to The Sun.

The veteran Dutch coach has put Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and West Bromwich Albion’s Saido Berahino at the top of his transfer wish-list, the report claims.

Hiddink is in advances talks with Blues owner Roman Abramovich and the Stamford Bridge hierarchy about taking on a caretaker role at the club for the second time in his career.

The 69-year-old is apparently concerned about the lack of firepower at his disposal for the second-half of the season, with Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao both out of form.

Mourinho was reportedly reluctant to give the go-ahead for a bid to sign England international Vardy, aged 28, but Hiddink has no such concerns.

He would also welcome the addition of 22-year-old England Under-21 international Berahino to his squad.
