With assist-machine Ozil rested for the clash with the Black Cats, 20-year-old Bellerin stepped up with two assists in a 3-1 win for the holders.

After the game, the former Barcelona full-back joked that Ozil had not been missed thanks to his efforts.

He wrote: “No @MesutOzil1088? No problem!”

Bellerin set up Aaron Ramsey to score Arsenal’s second before providing Olivier Giroud a simple tap-in for the third.
