Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is set to make a £10m transfer to Newcastle United.

The deal appears to be nearing completion, with The Sun reporting that the England international may have already played his last game for the Swans.

Although the report suggests that there is no agreement in place at the moment, Shelvey is said to be resigned to leaving the Liberty Stadium and is keen on the idea of a move to St James’ Park.

Sky Sports claims the Magpies are very interested in signing the former Liverpool man and have expressed that interest to Swansea’s hierarchy.

The Welsh side paid an initial £5m to sign Shelvey from Liverpool in July 2013.

Shelvey, aged 23, has played for England six times so far in his career.

Swansea are currently 17th in the Premier League on 19 points, one place and two points above Steve McClaren’s Newcastle. The two sides look set to be rivals in the relegation scrap this season.
