Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink is targeting a deal to sign Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy or free agent Emmanuel Adebayor this month, according to The Times.

Atletico Madrid striker Jackson Martinez and West Bromwich Albion starlet Saido Berahino are also said to be on the champions’ wish-list.

The Dutchman has reportedly spoken to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy about the need to strengthen his attacking options in the current transfer window.

It appears England international – currently the Premier League’s joint-top goalscorer – is the man the Blues would like to sign.

The 29-year-old late bloomer has taken the league by storm this season with his pace and powerful running.

If the Blues can’t convince the Foxes to sell, Martinez, aged 29, and Berahino, aged 22, are also thought to be under consideration.

Colombia international Martinez joined Atletico from Porto last summer but has failed to establish himself as a regular starter.

Berahino’s relationship with the Baggies is yet to recover from his attempts to move to Tottenham Hotspur in the last window.

The article claims if Chelsea have failed to land any of their top targets by the end of the window, they will move to bring in Adebayor on a free transfer.

The former Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Spurs man has been without a club since leaving White Hart Lane last year. He would be offered a short-term deal until the end of the season.
