Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the signing of New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga.
Former USA international Taylor Twellman took to Twitter to claim that the 20-year-old would be moving to a Premier League club within a couple of days. He added that the deal was subject to a medical.
ESPN reporter Marc Stein added further details, claiming that it was Chelsea who had been showing most interest in the one-cap USA international in recent days. He cited pals in Major League Soccer as the source of his information.
Highly-rated Miazga made his Red Bulls debut in 2013 and featured occasionally in 2014. But is was during the 2015 season that he established himself as a regular starter and earned his national team call-up.
He was born in Clifton, New Jersey, to a Polish immigrant family and previously played for Poland Under-18s, before going on to represent the US at various age-group levels.
