New York Red Bulls centre-back Matt Miazga has had a medical at Chelsea ahead of a £3.5m transfer, according to The Sun.
We told you earlier this week that the USA international was close to joining the Blues. That deal is now even closer to coming into fruition, with Miazga having travelled to the UK and undergone fitness and medical checks with the struggling Premier League champions.
The 20-year-old is now expected to finalise his switch to Stamford Bridge in the next couple of days.
Miazga is a 6ft 4in defender who established himself as a regular starter for the Red Bulls last season.
His solid performances alongside former Chelsea star Shaun Wright-Phillips seemingly caught the eye of the Blues’ scouting team.
Despite only having one senior international cap to his name, Miazga would qualify for a UK visa and work permit because he holds an EU passport courtesy of his Polish parents.
