Porto midfielder Giannelli Imbula has arrived at Stoke City’s training ground to finalise his transfer.

The former Marseille midfielder was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, who scouted him extensively before he moved to Portugal last summer.

After just half-a-season with Porto, the 23-year-old defensive midfielder is set to move on again as the Potters close in on what is expected to be a club record £14m deal.

Imbula, a former France Under-21 international, was spotted arriving at Stoke’s training ground at Clayton this morning.
