Sunderland are on the verge of signing former Arsenal right-back Emmanuel Eboue on a free transfer, according to the Daily Telegraph.

After three weeks of training with the Black Cats, Eboue has reportedly been offered a contract by manager Sam Allardyce. That is likely to be a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The former Ivory Coast international became a cult hero during his time at the Emirates Stadium, largely due to behaviour like that in the video above.

Eboue made 132 Premier League appearances and played 214 games in all competitions for the Gunners between 2005 and 2011.

He left the Gunners to join Turkish side Galatasaray in a €3.5m deal in 2011. Although he saw out his four-year contract, he endured a pretty miserable time in Turkey and didn’t play at all during his final season after the club president ordered him not to be selected.

The 32-year-old has been without a club since his contract expired in May 2015.
