Prospective new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is planning to bring Sunderland winger Emanuele Giaccherini to Stamford Bridge, according to The Sun.

The pint-sized winger, aged 30, has flopped during his time at the Stadium of Light and is currently on loan at Serie A side Bologna.

Conte is said to have earmarked Giaccherini as a potential signing.

He move to the Premier League from Juventus – at that time managed by Conte – in a deal worth a reported £7m in July 2013.

Giaccherini is a 21-cap Italy international and there were big expectations when he arrived on Wearside.

He made a decent start to his first season put fell out of favour as the season wore on, particularly after compatriot Paolo Di Canio’s sacking.

His second campaign with the Black Cats was decimated by a succession of injuries. He was deemed surplus to requirements by Dick Advocaat last summer and allowed to make the loan move to his homeland.
