Liverpool have been given increased hope of signing Dynamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko this summer after the Ukrainian side’s president said he would not sell him to Everton or Stoke City.

Ihor Surkis suggested that the Toffees and the Potters, who he claimed are battling relegation from the Premier League, were not of sufficient standing for Yarmolenko to join them. He indicated that a move to Goodison Park or the Britannia Stadium would be a step down from Champions League football with Dynamo.

That will give Liverpool renewed optimism that Yarmolenko can be brought to Anfield, particularly given that the 26-year-old’s agent recently posted a video indicated he was holding transfer talks with the Reds.

But the Anfield hierarchy have been warned that the winger will not be on the move before Euro 2016.

According to The Guardian, Surkis said: “If I get an offer that will suit Dynamo and Yarmolenko wants to go to this club, I’ll let him. All talk of a transfer will begin after the Euros.

“He is already a top player, so he should go to a top club. My position is that we should not let Yarmolenko go to such clubs as Everton and Stoke City. Dynamo is Dynamo and Stoke City is Stoke. We’re playing in the Champions League, and Stoke City are fighting for survival.”

The Dynamo president went on to say that Yarmolenko dreams of playing in the Premier League of the Bundesliga.
