Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko is a transfer target for Arsenal, according to the Daily Mirror.
The France international could become the first first-team regular to leave the Magpies since their relegation to the Championship.
Sissoko, aged 26, had been linked with the Gunners even before Newcastle’s recent troubles. A long-term target of Arsene Wenger, he would provide some pace and power to the Arsenal engine room.
The report suggests he will command a fee of around £10m if he moves on.
Sissoko was named as Newcastle captain since Rafa Benitez took charge of the club and responded with some inspirational performances as the team came close to avoiding the drop.
But he appears unlikely to ply his trade in English football’s second-tier next season.
Sissoko – part of Didier Deschamps’ squad for Euro 2016 – moved to St James’ Park from Toulouse in January 2013. He has made 132 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
