Netherlands international Bruno Martins Indi is a transfer target for Liverpool, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 24-year-old Porto defender is comfortable at centre-back or left-back and has been earmarked by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp as the man to tighten up his defence.

Martins Indi would potentially provide a more solid alternative to under-fire full-back Alberto Moreno while also adding competition for Liverpool’s centre-backs. Klopp has offloaded Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure, while there are question marks over Mamadou Sakho’s future after his pre-season spat with the manager.

Former Feyenoord man Martins Indi joined Porto in a £6.5m deal in 2014. He has made 71 appearances for the Portuguese side.

He has 31 caps for the Netherlands and played at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, where his former national team boss Louis van Gaal had just taken charge, after the tournament but ended up moving to Portugal instead.
