Former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs is in line to become the new Swansea City manager if the Welsh club decide to part company with current boss Francesco Guidolin, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The broadsheet portrays the Italian coach as a ‘dead man walking’ and says Swans chairman Huw Jenkins was already making moves to oust Guidolin and bring in Giggs before that move was vetoed by the Swans’ new American owners.

Jenkins reportedly planned to meet Giggs ahead of last night’s EFL Cup tie against Manchester City.

But he postponed after talks with the club’s new majority shareholders Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien.

Kaplan and Levien are said to be keen for stability and do not want to make a change so early in the season.

Giggs, aged 42, has been out of work since leaving his post as United’s assistant manager following the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Guidolin is now unlikely to be sacked before the October international break, but the situation could be revisited at that stage.
