Arsenal benchwarmer Lukas Podolski claims that Wolfsburg have made an enquiry about signing him.
The Gunners star has made it clear that he is not happy with the amount of playing time he is currently getting at the Emirates and has been dropping a series of hints that he would like to quit. A January move back to his native Germany looks likely.
But it won’t be with Schalke. Their general manager Horst Heldt was asked about a possible bid for Podolski and indicated that he wasn’t interested.
He said: “I’m always surprised by these statements. Who said that I want to move to Schalke? Neither my advisors nor I offered that to Horst Heldt.”
The 29-year-old went on to claim that there had been an approach from Schalke’s Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg, with sporting director Klaus Allofs reportedly contacting Podolski’s agent.
He told Bild: “I know from my consultant that Mr Allofs has inquired after me.”
