Hearts youngster out-of-pocket after shock selection

OTP imagines that plenty of teams at the imminent European U21 Championship will have a diver on the wing, but England have unexpectedly opted for a Driver instead. So unexpected, in fact, that Hearts winger Andrew Driver had already got his summer holiday booked.

Assuming he wouldn’t even be in with a shout of a call-up for the tournament, Driver booked a nice break for himself and his girlfriend with the Cliched Footballers’ Holidays Travel Company. The Oldham-born SPL star has lost the money he paid for trips to Barbados and Las Vegas (you can tell his only a kid: an experienced Premier League player would never take the missus on a trip to Vegas!) after Stuart Peace decided to make him England’s designated Driver.

Driver said: “I was ready for my holidays. I was off to Barbados with my girlfriend and I’d booked Las Vegas, so I’ve lost a fortune. But I’m delighted.”

If you’re that delighted, OTP will happily take a few more quid off you and see if you are feeling ecstatic after that.
