Sometimes Twitter heralds breaking football news, sometimes the social media platform plugs incorrect rumours and sometimes it throws up some down right pictorial corkers.

This image from @SillyFootball shows the most expensive wall of all time, during Real Madrid’s era of Galacticos. The five players in question are Raul, Luis Figo, David Beckham, Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane. Estimated worth = £180m, but did they manage to block that free-kick?

Here’s a reminder of their fees…

Raul
The Spaniard never commanded a transfer fee as he stayed at Real from the age of 17 to 33, but having written his name in the club’s history books as Madrid’s record goalscorer and all-time highest scorer in the Champions League – 17 goals ahead of his nearest rival – he would have been worth at least £30m at the peak of his career.

Luis Figo
A controversial move that involved a pigs head thrown onto the pitch by angry Barcelona fans during the Portuguese midfielder’s first El Clasico after completing his £37.5m switch from to Real Madrid.

David Beckham
‘Goldenballs’ completed a £25m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid after falling out with Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson. It should be noted that Becks was probably worth tons more in advertising for the Spanish giants.

Ronaldo
The Brazilian may have piled on the pounds as his career shuddered to a halt in recent seasons, but the brilliant forward was once worth £37.5m after his transfer to Real Madrid from Inter Milan was completed.

Zinedine Zidane
At the time the world’s record breaking transfer for the paltry sum of just 150 billion Italian lire, Zidane switched Juventus for Real Madrid for what is estimated to have been around £50m. Quite a lot of cash, but he was worth it.
