He will now be part of Quique Sanchez Flores’ Watford first-team squad for the remainder of the 2015/16 campaign as the Hornets seek to secure Premier League survival.
Ake, a Netherlands Under-21 international, had a short spell on loan at Championship side Reading last season.
He arrived at Chelsea from Feyenoord as a 15-year-old in July 2011. He won the FA Youth Cup in his first season with the Blues, before going on to make his first-team debut the following season as a substitute in an away game at Norwich City on Boxing Day 2012. He was named the club’s Young Player of the Season at the end of the 2012/13 campaign.
To date, he has made 12 senior appearances for Chelsea.
